Project 3: Light
We had to create a non-denominational chapel at Farmingdale State College for the duration of the project. The college desires an intriguing light control system for their chapel. Additionally, they wish to preserve and expand the college's circulation.
LIGHT RESEARCH
Lighting is a crucial component of Le Corbusier's Palace of Assembly design. He reduced the requirement for artificial lighting by utilizing horizontal windows to optimize natural light and create a well-lit space. Sunbreakers, which shade the structure and reduce glare while also enhancing its aesthetic appeal, are also incorporated into the building's design.

Side chambers receive controlled natural light from narrow vertical light wells
Daylight is reflected deeper into the interior by light-colored surfaces
Produces a gentle, ambient glow that improves the spatial quality

ANALYSIS
SITE PLAN
After completing my campus research on sun angles and circulation, I was able to make an decision regarding the site of my building. I chose this position based on previous circulations because of the building's easy access and the amount of light it would receive throughout the day.
